Murrieta Valley Unified utilizes the Dollars for Scholars Program to centralize scholarship offers available to our students. Murrieta Dollars for Scholars has given $3 million in scholarships to over 8,500 graduates of Murrieta Valley Unified School District to help local seniors make their dreams of higher education a reality.
Seniors who have a minimum cumulative overall grade point average of 3.25 at the end of the first semester, and plan to attend a two-year community college, four-year university, technical, trade, or a vocational school following graduation are eligible to apply. Scholarships are based on academic achievement, accomplishments, involvement and/or merit. All applicants are not guaranteed a scholarship.

The Second Chance College Scholarships Contest is open to citizens and aliens legally residing in the USA with High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Scholarship funds are payable to the winner’s college/university or certified trade school in the United States; the winner must enroll or already be enrolled.
Winner selection is NOT based on financial need, GPA, or demographic criteria.
Relatives of AFSA staff or NATIONAL board members may not enter.

Essay: Recognizing our form of government is a Republic, write a 500-1,000 word essay on how our First Amendment (RAPPS: Religion, Assembly, Press, Petition, Speech) rights enable the citizens to influence the laws of our country or initiate a constitutional amendment and, in so doing, prevent the dissolution of the Republic in the ways that have affected other nations in the past (e.g. violent rebellion/uprising or coup d’etat). The essay must be no shorter than 500 words and no longer than 1,000 words, typed or handwritten. Essay entry may be mailed or submitted electronically, but MUST include student’s name, age, and grade on every page of the essay. If mailing, the essay and entry form must be included. *Your essay may also fall under the guidelines and expectations for the American Legion Oratory Competition Essay. See Official Rules Section III for details.
Song: As citizens under a republican form of government, how do we use the First Amendment (RAPPS: Religion, Assembly, Press, Petition, Speech) to change the laws of our country or create a constitutional amendment and, in so doing, prevent the dissolution of the Republic in the ways that have affected other nations in the past (e.g. violent rebellion/uprising or coup d’etat). The song must be an original pop, country, rock, or other popular genre song composition with lyrics and music written by the student, no longer than 3:20. Song submissions should be uploaded to YouTube (640 x 360 minimum, HD preferred) or Vimeo (download enabled) and must include a video recording of the performance or a still photo with audio in the background. The song title must be in the title of the uploaded video and the song lyrics must be in the description of the video. See Official Rules Section III for details.
STEM: Get a pulse on what your peers know about the Constitution! Conduct a survey or focus group, create an online quiz or website, or design a smartphone app containing information on the U.S. Constitution. Focus groups or surveys must poll twenty or more of your peers; online quizzes and websites must be completed/viewed by at least fifteen people and submission must include a report of results; smartphone apps must be downloaded and tested by fifteen people and submission must include a report of results. Please include two paragraphs as to how you would market your project.
Short film: How does the Constitution make America and Americans’ way of life unique as compared to other countries? Must be an original film written and directed by the student. Up to two students may collaborate on and submit the short film. It must be no shorter than 5 minutes and no longer than 10 minutes in length. See Official Rules Section III for details.
Social Media Video (60 second maximum): (1) Please create a 60 second maximum video (Instagram reel, youtube short, etc) that represents how the first amendment rights (Religion, Assembly, Press, Petition, Speech) can be used as tools to effect change in the country and/or amend the Constitution, thus preventing the dissolution of the Republic in the ways that have affected other nations in the past (e.g. violent rebellion/uprising or coup d’etat). OR (2) Why are civil civic conversations important in our society today? It must be no longer than 60 seconds in length, originally written and directed by the student and recorded. Up to two students may collaborate on and submit the Social Media Video. Social Media Video submissions should be uploaded as 1080×1920 (9:16 aspect ratio) with the highest resolution possible to YouTube or Vimeo (download enabled). See Official Rules Section III for details.
PSA (30 second): Choose one of the two topics to create a 30 second public service announcement: (1) Please create a 30 second commercial that represents how the first amendment rights (Religion, Assembly, Press, Petition, Speech) can be used as tools to effect change in the country and/or amend the Constitution, thus preventing the dissolution of the Republic in the ways that have affected other nations in the past (e.g. violent rebellion/uprising or coup d’etat). OR (2) Why are civil civic conversations important in our society today? It must be 30 seconds in length, originally written and directed by the student and recorded. Up to two students may collaborate on and submit the PSA. PSA submissions should be uploaded to YouTube (640 x 360 minimum, HD preferred) or Vimeo (download enabled), “black to black” should be 29.5 for the 30-second PSA. See Official Rules Section III for details.
Complete the online application form including a 140-character message about texting while driving. The top 10 applications will be selected as finalists. The finalists will be asked to write a full length 500- to 1,000-word essay about texting while driving.
Qualified high school junior or seniors must show demonstrated leadership by serving in elected or appointed positions in which they are actively representing or previously represented a constituency in organizations related to student government, education, public affairs and community service.
They must be actively serving in qualified leadership positions, enrolled in high school and living in the state (and for these purposes the District of Columbia) that they will represent for the entire academic year.
All student leadership positions are subject to the judgement and verification of the state selection administrators.

If a volunteer teacher did not teach the lesson to you or your class, you can access the student workbook on your own online.
Complete a five-question quiz based on material directly found in the “Bring Home The Gold” student workbook.
Each student who correctly answers all five questions on the quiz will be automatically entered in a drawing for the scholarships.
Candidates can retake the quiz as many times as needed to achieve a passing score.

The applicant must currently be a junior or senior attending high school in the U.S. for the flight training scholarships.
For the aircraft mechanic scholarship, applicants must currently be a senior attending high school in the U.S.
Applicants must be turning 16 years of age or older on or before December 31 (flight training); or, you must be 18 years old by time of completing program (aircraft mechanic).
All applicants must be able to start training within 12 months of receiving the scholarship.
Also, you must be able to use the scholarship within 24 months.
Additionally, you must have parent or guardian’s approval if under 18 years of age.
Most importantly, applicants must have consistent, reliable transportation to attend Epic Flight Academy or be willing to relocate here during training.
You must be able to present a Third Class Medical for the flight training scholarship.
The "Be Bold" Scholarship is a no-essay scholarship that will be awarded to the applicant with the boldest profile. It takes less than 2 minutes to apply.

They are 13 years of age or older at the time of account creation.
They receive parent/guardian approval by the approval deadline OR are 18 years of age or older at the time of application submission.
They attend a school in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or on a U.S. overseas military base.
They are not an NCWIT employee and have no immediate family relationship with employees, extended staff, contractors, or board members of NCWIT (including spouses, siblings, children, grandchildren, and persons residing in the same household).

In addition to the aforementioned eligibility requirements, to be considered for a National Award (National Winner or National Honorable Mention designations), the applicant must meet the additional criteria:
They are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or individual who meets the requirements of the substantial presence test.
They have a U.S. Tax Identification or Social Security Number.
Eligibility begins with maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must participate or have participated in grades 9, 10, or 11 in at least one of the 48 school sponsored sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.
All those who apply for the Steve Duckett Local Conservation Scholarship must be in good academic standing with their current educational institution, with a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Candidates for this scholarship must demonstrate a commitment to environmental conservation using past and present volunteer, professional, and educational experiences.
Candidates must be entering an accredited community college, college, university, or post-graduate program.
The Grungo Colarulo Giving Back to the Community scholarship is available for any student who is currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States.
Students who are currently incoming first-year college students and have graduated high school or possess a GED may also apply.
Any eligible candidates must be in good academic standing and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

The Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) is an annual competition that provides high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to work on real world engineering challenges in a team environment.
Each year, student teams will be asked to address a challenge that confronts our nation's leading industries.

Every year, between Oct. 1 – Dec. 1, the Wyland National Art Challenge encourages thousands of students across the nation to think about the many conservation issues we face around the world and interpret them through art.
Students can choose to work collaboratively on mural projects or create individual works of art and earn a chance to win classroom prizes and scholarships. In fact, art contests for kids like the Wyland National Art Challenge play a critical role in helping students interpret their relationship to the natural world through art. Each year, National Stephen J. Brady Scholarship winners are recognized at the Foundation’s annual fundraising event, the Sodexo Charity Classic Presented by PepsiCo. The event will be held on June 10th – 12th, at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, Florida and winning scholars are required to attend this all-expenses-paid trip. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS/CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
Candidates will attend an accredited four-year college or university within the United States with Freshman/full-time status beginning with the Fall term/semester.
Candidates participate in specific extra-curricular high school activities, as defined within the essay and detailed on the required extra-curricular worksheet.
Essay: Your essay to the given prompt with attention to specific instructions will be given after you generate your completed application worksheet. The essay will be edited for impartiality (removal of name, and identifying affiliation) prior to submission to a panel of twenty industry individuals who will evaluate for on-topic submission, attention to page setup, etc. The essay will account for 60% of the application process.
Application and supporting documents must be transmitted on or before February 15. Unless we are notified via email of delay submitting specific required documents (transcript), incomplete applications will not be considered after 2/15.
Winning students must be available to attend one of two July awards dinners: Northern California, Berkeley Claremont Hotel & Spa, OR Southern California, Newport Marriott Hotel/Resort. There are NO special circumstances that apply for non-attendance.
The ELCA Fund for Leaders Direct Full-Tuition Scholarship is for students who are beginning a full-time degree program at an ELCA seminary and have begun the ELCA candidacy process in order to become a rostered pastor or deacon in the ELCA. Fund for Leaders Direct Full-Tuition scholarships are awarded to students in their first year of seminary and, as long as students remain eligible, funding is guaranteed for the duration of required seminary coursework.
The ELCA Fund for Leaders Federal Chaplaincy Ministries Scholarship is for students who are attending an ELCA seminary full-time and are preparing for ministry as a military, Veterans Administration or federal prison chaplain. These scholarships are awarded through ELCA Federal Chaplaincy Ministries.
The ELCA Fund for Leaders Mission Developer Scholarship is for students who are rising middlers or seniors or TEEM (Theological Education for Emerging Ministries) candidates at an ELCA seminary, who are identified and nominated by their seminary and by ELCA Christian Community and Leadership (CCL) as mission developer candidates.
The ELCA Fund for Leaders Synod, Congregation or TEEM Scholarships are offered to ELCA seminary students by synods and congregations that have established a scholarship fund through Fund for Leaders. The TEEM Scholarship is for all current TEEM ELCA seminary students and those who will begin the TEEM program this current fall semester, who are taking coursework. The TEEM scholarship lives within the Synod or Congregation Scholarship.

CEHA GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Any graduating high school senior who meets the following requirements;
Minimum GPA of 2.5 based on a scale of 4.0.
Enrollment in a science program at an accredited college or university.
Intention to pursue higher education with an emphasis in environmental health or a related science.
Completion of at least one high school science class in addition to the minimum required for graduation.

CEHA YOUNG ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH STUDENT AWARD APPLICATION
Any junior high student who enters an environmental health related project in the California State Science Fair http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/ is eligible. The project can pertain to any environmental health topic, including, but no limited to: air, water, food safety, toxics, liquid waste, or vector control. Applicant must be a permanent legal resident of California.
Residency: Must be a resident within the SCAG region (i.e., Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, or Ventura County, or on Tribal Lands within the SCAG region), and be eligible to work in the United States.
School Enrollment: Must be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled in a two-year community college in the SCAG region. Graduating high school seniors must enroll in higher education (two- or four-year college or university) immediately following graduation from high school (i.e., no gap year).
GPA Minimum: Candidates must have a 3.00 grade point average or higher (based on a 4.00, unweighted scale).
Internship Requirement and Visit to SCAG: An internship or visit to SCAG offices in Los Angeles to attend a Regional Council meeting are not required. However, if you are interested in either, please contact SCAG’s Scholarship Program Coordinator.
The Altura Credit Union Foundation General Scholarship:
This scholarship is available to high school seniors graduating from any high school in Riverside County.
The General Scholarship specially designates five scholarships for students participating in AVID, and 10 scholarships for students attending University of California, Riverside.
Altura Future Leader Scholarship
Altura’s Future Leader Scholarship is personally funded by Altura’s CEO and designed for a graduating high school senior who embodies leadership characteristics and tendencies.
The Dr. Linda Wisher Educational Endowment:
This endowment is in memory of Dr. Linda Wisher, a former member of Altura’s Board of Directors. Recipients are female students pursuing a career in education.
The Bonnie Gail Polis Educational Endowment:
This Endowment is in memory of Bonnie Gail Polis and is dedicated to graduating high school senior within the Riverside Unified School District (Arlington, King, North, Poly, Ramona) with the intention of pursuing a degree in public education (i.e. – Teacher, Counselor, Administrator, etc.).
The Terry Ferrone Memorial Scholarship:
This scholarship is in memory of Terry Ferrone and grants funds for a graduating high school senior from John W. North or Poly High School.
The Kimberly Jean Flores Memorial Scholarship:
This scholarship is in memory of Kimberly Jean Flores, a former Canyon Springs High School Student. To apply for this scholarship, you must be a graduating high school senior of Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley.
California high school students in 9th through 12th grade are invited to participate in an essay contest and/or a visual arts contest to increase greater awareness of the Armenian Genocide on its anniversary.
Be an active member of a synagogue and possess the Ner Tamid or Etz Chaim religious emblem.
Have demonstrated practical citizenship in your synagogue, school, Scouting unit, and community.
Be enrolled in an accredited high school and in your final year at the time of selection. Exception: Scouts whose Eagle Scout boards of review are held the same year of their high school graduation may apply in that calendar year.

Essay Requirements
Applicants should submit a typed, double-spaced essay that is in legible font of 12-point size. The essay should discuss, in detail, how Christian education and Christian business leaders help to enhance the moral fibers of the United States. The essay should also include a description of how a Christian education has or/and will benefit the applicant, and how a Christian education will help the applicant to be a future leader among their peers.
